I get asked all the time if there’s a “best” year to go to Walt Disney World. Honestly, every year brings something new, but 2026 is shaping up to be a really special one. Between refreshed classics, brand-new attractions, returning festivals, and some thoughtful perks for Disney resort guests, it feels like Disney is leaning hard into both nostalgia and innovation — and I’m here for it.
If a Disney trip has been on your “someday” list, or you’re due for a return visit, here’s why 2026 might be the perfect time to go.

New and Refreshed Experiences Across All Four Parks
One of the things Disney does best is evolve without losing the magic we fell in love with in the first place. In 2026, every park will have something new or newly refreshed, which means no matter where you spend your day, it won’t feel like more of the same.
Several classic attractions are getting updates, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. These aren’t complete overhauls, but thoughtful enhancements that improve the experience while keeping the heart of the attraction intact. For longtime Disney fans, this is the sweet spot.
Another exciting update is the launch of the new Soarin’ Across America, scheduled to debut by Memorial Day. This version brings the focus back to iconic U.S. landscapes, and for guests who loved the original Soarin’ Over California, this feels like a welcome homecoming.

Big News for Families (and Bluey Fans)
Summer 2026 brings something especially fun to Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Bluey and Bingo will officially make their Disney debut. If you have kids, grandkids, or just happen to adore that show yourself, this is a big deal. Animal Kingdom already shines when it comes to immersive storytelling, and adding these beloved characters makes the park even more appealing for families.
EPCOT is also leaning into playful energy with new interactive experiences, including GoofyCore, where guests can dance, play, and engage with characters throughout the park. Disney is clearly focused on bringing more spontaneous fun into the day, not just scheduled rides and shows.

Brand-New Shows and Entertainment You Can’t Miss
Disney has quietly rolled out some fantastic new entertainment, and by 2026 these shows will be fully woven into the fabric of a Disney vacation.
At Magic Kingdom, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away! has arrived as a stunning new nighttime parade. It’s the kind of entertainment that reminds you why staying late in the parks is always worth it.

Hollywood Studios is having a moment as well, with:
The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, a beautifully staged reimagining of a classic story
Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, which finally gives the villains their time in the spotlight
Over at EPCOT, the reimagined Test Track presented by General Motors brings a fresh perspective to a longtime favorite, blending innovation with hands-on fun.
Animal Kingdom rounds things out with Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, a new 4D experience that adds humor, heart, and a bit of chaos in the best possible way.

A Muppet-Filled Makeover at Hollywood Studios
One of my favorite announcements for 2026 is the transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is set to open in summer 2026, bringing humor, music, and that wonderfully chaotic Muppet energy to the attraction.

If you’re an Aerosmith fan, you still have time. Guests can keep riding the current version through spring 2026 (Closing date has been set at March 2, 2026) before the red carpet gets rolled out for Kermit and friends. It’s one of those changes that feels bold, unexpected, and very Disney.
Festivals, Holidays, and Fan Favorites Are All Back
One of the biggest reasons repeat guests love Disney World is the seasonal events, and 2026 brings them all back.
You can once again plan trips around EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts and Food & Wine Festival, both of which add an extra layer of creativity (and great food) to the park. Seasonal parties like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Jollywood Nights return as well, making fall and winter especially magical times to visit.
These events aren’t just add-ons; they change the entire feel of the parks and give returning guests something fresh to look forward to.

Extra Perks for Disney Resort Guests
One of the most talked-about perks for 2026 is free water park admission on your arrival day for guests staying at Disney resorts this summer. It’s a simple benefit, but a really smart one. Instead of feeling like your first day is a wash, you can jump straight into vacation mode, even if your room isn’t ready yet.

It’s little touches like this that make staying on property feel more relaxed and more worth it.
So… Is 2026 the Right Year for You?
If you love the idea of seeing Disney at a moment when so much feels new — without losing the classics that made you fall in love with it — 2026 checks a lot of boxes. It’s a year that blends refreshed attractions, brand-new shows, returning festivals, and meaningful guest perks into one really strong lineup.
Whether you’re planning your very first visit, returning after a long break, or bringing a new generation along with you, 2026 feels like one of those “sweet spot” years at Walt Disney World.
And if you’re ready to start dreaming (or planning), I’m always happy to help you sort through the details and find the timing that makes the most sense for you.
