How much of a party ship is Virgin? (Twist, it’s not what you’d think)

There’s a reason Virgin Voyages was named Cruise Critics Best Overall Cruise Line — they don’t disappoint. Sure, they love a good celebration (and a reason to dress up) and recognize that celebrating is also lounging by the pool, getting a massage, or enjoying some old-fashioned retail therapy — before a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned.

I’ll have to be honest here — prior to my first Virgin cruise on the Scarlet Lady (the four-night Fire & Sunset Soiree), I was a bit apprehensive. I’m not a person that enjoys a loud party all the time…and I was expecting my Virgin cruise to be a loud, raucous 24 hour non-stop experience. I arrived at the terminal thinking, this cruise on Virgin will be “One & Done”. I honestly didn’t think that I would like it, but knew I needed to experience it so that I could help my clients decide if it would be a good fit for them. The truth is I loved my Virgin cruise, and knew by the second day that I would be returning for a longer cruise. If you are looking for a party, you will absolutely find it on a Virgin cruise….but, if you are looking for a bit of quiet relaxation, you will also absolutely find it on a Virgin cruise as well. I’ve been on some ships that I couldn’t find anywhere to go to read a book…not the case with Virgin! Also, Virgin has some of the best food that I’ve had on a cruise. When you go, do NOT miss the Esquites at Pink Agave. It is life-changing.

So if you think Virgin is just a party ship, think again.
