Bring your friends, and you might survive!
Halloween Horror Nights is Universal Orlando Resort’s most extensive seasonal event, offering 10 terrifying houses including A Quiet Place; Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire; Monstruos, The Monsters of Latin America; Slaugher Sinema 2; The Museum: Deadly Exhibits; Major Sweets Candy Factory; Goblin’s Feast; Triplets of Terror; and more to come. The event also features live shows and 5 outdoor themed scare zones. If you’re new to this event and are considering going for the first time this year, here’s the need-to-know info for Halloween Horror Nights beginners.
Halloween Horror Nights will be select nights August 30 – Nov. 3, 2024.

1. The event has an extra charge
To cut to the chase, yes, you will pay extra beyond regular park admission for this event. There are typically a variety of ticket options depending on whether you want to go for a single night or multiple nights, but in any case the event has its own ticket, so you will need to have Halloween Horror Nights-specific admission in order to attend. Also, if you are purchasing a single-night ticket, your ticket is date specific, and has to be used on the date you purchased it for.
2. It only takes place at Universal Studios on select nights
Universal Orlando Resort is made up of two theme parks and one water theme park, but the Halloween Horror Nights event only takes place at Universal Studios Florida, and only on select nights in September and October.
3. The event is not suitable for kids
While Halloween Horror Nights does not have a required minimum age, it does strongly recommend that guests under age 13 not attend. It is ultimately at the parents’ discretion, but keep in mind that this event is very intense. Scare actors will be attempting to scare you in the streets, and scenes in the zones or houses often include periods of intense noise, near-complete darkness, monsters that will try to jump scare you, and scenes that may include graphic gore or risqué elements. The event is designed to scare you, and Universal does not refund tickets on account of guests finding the event too scary.

4. Your daytime Express Pass won’t work
If you have purchased Express Pass or if you are staying at an on-site hotel that includes complimentary Express Pass, these are NOT valid during Halloween Horror Nights. The event has its own Express Pass, and any regular daytime Express Passes are not accepted during Halloween Horror Nights.
5. You want Express Pass anyway
Even though Express Passes for Halloween Horror Nights come at an additional cost, it is completely worth it. Lines for the houses often reach 1.5 to 2 hours on peak nights, and popular houses may have even longer waits. I very highly recommend purchasing Express Pass if you’re attending this event, especially if you’ll be visiting on a Friday or Saturday, as it’s very difficult to see all the houses in one night without it.

On-site hotels often sell out on event weekends, so contact me to book your stay.
WARNING: EVENT MAY BE TOO INTENSE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13. NO COSTUMES OR COSTUME MASKS ALLOWED.
